This Oahu Family Farm is the Ultimate Hawaiian Plumeria Paradise 🌸

Tucked away on a hilltop overlooking the North Shore, this family-owned Hawaiian plumeria farm has produced intoxicating aromas since 1973.
If you’re exploring Oahu’s North Shore, chances are you’re planning to watch the surfers at Pipeline, grab a garlic shrimp plate in Kahuku, or lounge on the golden sands of Waimea Bay.
But there’s another North Shore gem well worth adding to your Oahu road trip.
Tucked into the hills above the coastline with dazzling ocean views and heavenly Hawaiian scents is Little Plumeria Farms.
This family-run farm is home to the world’s largest collection of rare hybrid plumerias, and it’s one of the most beautiful, fragrant, and truly unique experiences on the island.
And from April to October, you can visit the farm with a guided tour!
Last fall, just before the tours ended for the season, I talked my husband into coming with me for a weekend tour. While he wasn’t initially enthused about the “flower farm tour,” he’s a good sport and is always game for a day at the North Shore.
So I booked us a Saturday morning tour, and off we went.
Spoiler Alert: He ended up loving it just as much as I did!
What Makes Little Plumeria Farms So Special?
Also known as frangipani, plumeria flowers are synonymous with Hawaii. Introduced to the islands in the 1800s, plumerias have flourished in Hawaii’s tropical climate.
With blossoms ranging from pristine whites to vibrant pinks and yellows, they’re the blossoms most often seen in fresh flower leis, filling the air with their sweet, tropical fragrance.

You’ll find plumeria trees all over Hawaii. There’s even a free plumeria grove I love to visit at Koko Head (thank goodness you don’t have to do the grueling hike to appreciate it!).
But what makes Little Plumeria Farms special is that it’s not just any plumeria farm.
This 20-acre family-run farm started by Jim Little (hence the name!) has been growing and cultivating rare hybrid plumerias since 1973. Together with his son Clark and grandson Dane, three generations of Littles now run the farm and host the guided tours.
And these tours have quickly become one of the best things to do on a North Shore road trip.

The Little Plumeria Farms Tour Experience
Because the road up to the farm isn’t accessible for private vehicles, parking for the tour is next door at Tsueʻs Farm Haleiwa. From there, the farm’s shuttle picked us up for the short ride up the hill.
Perched on a hillside overlooking the famous North Shore beaches, this farm has some of the most incredible panoramic ocean views on Oahu.
Our tour was led by Clark, and for the first part, our small group gathered under a shaded pavilion while he shared stories about the farm’s history and how they create new hybrid plumerias.
We learned about the different types of plumerias, how they grow, and how certain varieties are exclusive to this farm.
The scent of Aloha
As Clark introduced each variety, he passed around a basket of blooms for us to smell and take home.
At the beginning of the tour, we were each given a handy gift bag to collect our plumeria treasures. By the end of the tour, my husband and I had both accumulated bags full of fragrant plumeria blooms to bring home.
What I found most fascinating is that each different variety has its own unique fragrance. Some have hints of peach, others lemon or vanilla. I had no idea plumeria had such a wide variety of scents.
It was almost like the flower farm version of a wine tasting!
Exploring the Plumeria Garden
Next, we got to walk through the Rare Hybrid Plumeria Garden, explore the plumeria nursery, and pick fresh plumerias right from the trees. Everywhere we turned, the air was filled with the sweet, floral scent of plumeria blossoms—it was absolute heaven.
The farm is home to thousands of plumeria trees in colors you won’t find anywhere else in Hawaii, from deep reds to soft pastels and even multi-colored varieties.
And then, of course, there’s the view.
For a farm experience, it’s incredibly interactive, and the family-run atmosphere makes it feel personal and welcoming. Even if you’re not a flower person, the beautiful setting and fascinating science behind these blossoms make for a really fun morning.
We loved this tour, and I highly recommend it if you’re visiting Oahu soon. But the only way to visit is with a pre-booked guided tour, so here’s what you need to know:

So Add a “Little” Aloha to Your North Shore Itinerary!
Sure, the main draws on Oahu’s North Shore are beaches, food trucks, and surf spots, but Little Plumeria Farms is a completely different experience.
Like the equally fabulous Kahuku Farms tour, I consider this one a must on the North Shore.

Just be sure to allow at least 90 minutes for the 1-hour tour. The shuttle process takes a few minutes, and you might want to linger longer than you think (especially in the cute gift shop)!
It’s peaceful, scenic, and incredibly unique, and you’ll walk away with a new appreciation for one of Hawaii’s most iconic flowers (not to mention a bag full of them to take home!).
Tip: Another great way to support Hawaii’s agriculture industry is with a visit to a local farmers’ market like the weekly KCC Farmers’ Market.

If you’re looking for a fun, authentic experience on Oahu, make time for Little Plumeria Farms. Trust me—even if you think it’s not your thing, you just might love it. (Just ask my husband! 😉)
