“The Gathering Place”
Oahu is (by far) Hawaii’s most visited island. It’s also the island I call home.
Even if your vacation focus is one of the other islands, if you fly all the way to Hawaii and skip Oahu, you’re missing out. Now, you may hear people say that Oahu is just a big city with lots of traffic. Those people stayed in Waikiki and never left (big mistake, huge).
And I’ll admit, I was somewhat guilty of that before we moved here. I’d been to Oahu more than a dozen times to run the Honolulu Marathon. But, aside from a few road trips to the North Shore and a visit to Pearl Harbor, I hadn’t seen any of the good stuff.
From the cosmopolitan vibes of Waikiki Beach and historic Pearl Harbor to lush mountain ranges and North Shore surf towns, Oahu has all the ingredients for an amazing Hawaii vacation. It’s also the most affordable island in Hawaii thanks to a wide variety of flight and hotel options. So do yourself a favor and make sure Oahu lands a spot on your Hawaii itinerary.
